HIPs are History but EPCs are still required

The requirement to have a HIP to sell your property was suspended on 21st May 2010.  Sellers still need to commission, but not necessarily receive,  an EPC before putting their house on the market.  The EPC must be available within 28 days of the property being marketed.  EPCs for both sale and rental are now valid for 10 years.  That means that you can re-use an EPC contained in any HIP pack you have.

From 6th April 2012 the EPC for your property must be commissioned before the property can be marketed and issued within 7 days of marketing.  Currently you have 28 days to obtain your EPC.  Please let us know when you book your appointment for an EPC visit if you require proof of commissioning it for your Agent.  We will then email you an appointment confirmation.  For the majority of EPCs we will turn them around within 24 hours and so coming to us you have peace of mind that we operate well within this new legislation.
